1" Welder Certification Practice Plates for AWS D1.1 Unlimited Thickness Qualification – 2” Width – Beveled Training Weld Coupons – 4 Plates Total + 3 Backing Strips = 3X The Welding Practice

This kit contains pre-beveled steel plates and backing strips intended for welding practice using D1.1 joint geometry. Each kit includes four beveled plates and three backing strips. Two plates and one backing strip are required to assemble one complete weld coupon. With the included components, three separate practice weld coupons can be assembled by reusing the plates with the additional backing strip. All plates are beveled at 22.5° per side, creating a 45° included groove angle consistent with standard D1.1 joint geometry. The only dimensional difference from qualification test plates is the reduced plate width, which is 2 inches instead of 4 inches, making these plates unsuitable for official testing and intended for practice use only. The Limited Thickness version uses 3/8 inch thick plates measuring 2 inches wide by 7 inches tall, with backing strips that are 1/4 inch thick, 2 inches wide, and 8 inches tall. All components are manufactured from new A36 structural steel using mill-produced material only, with no recycled or scrap steel. Plates and backing strips are shipped unassembled, and no WPS, instructions, or testing documentation are included. These practice plates are compatible with SMAW (Stick), FCAW, and FCAW-G welding processes and are designed strictly for training and skill development applications.
