Alternator Compatibility The first thing that should be verified, is the compatibility of the voltage regulator with the switcher, checking the codes engraved into the regulator body with the alternator technical code. The main failure of application of the voltage regulator is the incompatibility with the switcher. Bench test It is common, after purchasing the voltage regulator, test it on the countertop before application. But often this test is not valid, because most Valeo voltage regulators have a multi-function technology chip, which needs to communicate with the module (ECU), in order to get into operation. So since the bench test it is not connected with the module the test is failed. Vehicle mounting is required to test. Removal of Plastic Cover. For application of tension regulators, no need to remove the plastic cover that wraps around the brushes. Valeo regulator brushes are already pre-driven, so you should assemble the regulator on the switcher, without removing the plastic cover.
